3. From the Method pull-down menu, select Ping. The screen expands, enabling you to
configure ping fields.
4. Specify the fields that are explained in the following table.
Table 6-1. Health Check Settings
Field Description
Ping Host The IP address of the host to which the continuous ping should be sent. By default,
the IP address of the default gateway that you selected in “Configuring IP Settings”
on page 20 is used as the ping host, and the Ping Host field is masked out.
Deselect the Use default gateway as Ping Host checkbox to specify a host in the
Ping Host field.
Interval The interval in seconds at which the host is pinged. You can select 10 (default), 30,
60, or 120 seconds.
Retries The number of times that the wireless access point attempts to ping the host after
the initial attempt fails. You can select 1, 3 (default), 5, or 7. If all pings fail, the
connection between the wireless access point and the host is terminated, and the
Event Log will show the message “Health Check: Link Down.” If the connection
comes up again, the Event Log will show the message “Health Check: Link Up.”
5. Click Save or Save to Flash & Activate to save your settings.
Using the Ping, Traceroute, and NsLookup Utility
These diagnostic tools are not required if the wireless access point functions normally. As
port of a troubleshooting procedure, you can send a ping packet, traceroute, or Nslookup
request to an IP address or host name.
To use diagnostic tools:
1. Log in to the wireless access point at its default LAN address of http://192.168.0.229
with its default user name of admin and default password of password, or using
whatever LAN address, user name, and password you have chosen for the wireless
access point.
