2-4 Basic Setup

For Windows XP Users Installing a WAG311

Use the procedure below that corresponds to the version of Windows you are using.

First. Install the WAG311 software.

a. Power on your computer, let the

operating system boot up completely,

and log in as needed.

b. Insert the NETGEAR Dual Band

Wireless PCI Adapter WAG311 Resource

CD (SW-10015-01) into your CD-ROM

drive. The CD main page shown at the

right will load.

c. Click the “Install Driver & Utility” link.

d. Follow the InstallShield Wizard steps,

and click Finish when done to restart

your computer.

Note: If this page does not automatically appear,

browse the root of the CD and double-click on

autorun.exe to display this page.

Note: If a Windows XP Certification warning appears,

click Continue Anyway to proceed.

Install the WAG311 Wireless PCI Adapter

and Antenna.

a. Prepare suitable clothing and work space

with adequate room which is free of

sources of static electricity.

b. Power off your computer and disconnect

the power cord.

c. Open the case of your PC.

d. Identify an available PCI slot.

e. Insert the NETGEAR Dual Band

Wireless PCI Adapter WAG311 into

your PC.

Install the WAG311

Note: Be sure the WAG311 Wireless PCI Adapter is

fully seated in the PCI slot.
