User Manual for the NETGEAR WGE111 Wireless Game Adapter
4-6 Web Configuration
Network Name (SSID)
Choose a descriptive name for the WGE111 Wireless Game Adapter for identification purposes.
ANY is the factory default name for Infrastructure mode, which is a special name that will connect
with whatever access point or routers signal is strongest. Enter a value of up to 32 alphanumeric
characters, or click the Select AP to choose an available Access Point. Spaces are not allowed, but
dashes (-) and underscore marks (_) are accepted.
The SSID must be the same as the Access Point you want to connect to. This value is also
case-sensitive. For example, NETGEAR is not the same as NETGEAr.
Wireless Security
Select the option to match the Access Point; the screen will change according to the option
selected:
Disable — no data encryption.
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) — use WEP 64 or 128 bit data encryption. See the next
section, “Using WEP Security Encryption” on page 4-6 for detailed information.
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) — use WPA-PSK standard encryption.
See “Using WPA-PSK Security Encryption” on page 4-7 for detailed information.
Using WEP Security Encryption
Authentication Type
Select Open System or Shared Key authentication, as used by the Access Point. You can select
Auto to have the wireless game adapter automatically determine the type.
Key Size
Select the WEP Encryption level to match the Access Point:
64-bit (sometimes called 40-bit) encryption
128-bit (sometimes called 104-bit) encryption
If using WEP, you can manually or automatically program the four data encryption keys. These
values must be identical on all PCs and Access Points in your network.
