Enter 21 to select Reboot System. Your system is rebooted, implementing any changes that may

have been recently added to your system.

Enter 22 to select Command Interpreter Mode. This option changes the Manager interface on your

router from the screen-based mode to a command line mode. The command line mode allows you

to conﬁgure, diagnose, and test your router using a speciﬁed set of commands. This mode is

capable of executing user-deﬁned scripts sent from the terminal. For more information, refer to

“Command Interpreter Mode,” on page 9-9.

Back Up Conﬁguration

Select option 5 from Menu 24 - Maintenance to back up the current conﬁguration settings of your

router onto a disk. NETGEAR highly recommends backing up your router conﬁguration after it is

functioning.

The procedure for downloading varies depending on the type of terminal software used to access

the router. Your terminal software must have the ability to transfer data using the XMODEM

Protocol to perform the backup. A backup is possible only through the serial cable connection.

Restore Conﬁguration

Select option 6 from Menu 24 - Maintenance to reload a previously backed up conﬁguration from

a disk to the router. The conﬁguration is stored in the internal ﬂash ROM of your router and is

retained even if a power failure occurs.

The procedure for uploading varies depending on the type of terminal software used to access the

router. Your terminal software must have the ability to transfer data using the XMODEM Protocol

to perform the upload. Restoring a conﬁguration is possible only through the serial cable

connection.
